LaRowe, Gerlach & Roy Law Office

Sauk City, Wisconsin
Clients: Patrick & Tracey Taggart

The first building to be constructed in the new Sauk City Office Park, the LaRowe, Gerlach & Roy Law Office is designed to maximize performance based on principles outlined by the US Green Building Council (USGBC). Sustainable site development, water savings and materials selection all played important roles in the project’s site and landscape design. Native prairie covers most of the 1.1-acre site and creates an interesting juxtaposition between land and structure. The mix of prairie grasses and wildflowers also provides a natural habitat for wildlife, reduces long-term maintenance costs by eliminating irrigation and minimizing the need for mowing, and reduces storm water runoff by promoting infiltration instead.

I turned to Andy first because he demonstrates expertise, sincerity and a great attitude. I will continue to collaborate with Andy because he is talented, intuitive, responsive and responsible.
–Josh Johnson, AIA

As project manager, Andy Albright worked with The Renschler Company of Madison to extend the architect’s design intent from the structure into the site. At the building base, simple rectilinear landscape elements reinforce the modern architecture and take advantage of views around, through and from within the building. Plant species selection was critical to ensure various groundcovers will thrive in their respective environments and provide seasonal interest.

Today, Plandesign continues to work with the Owners to further enhance the site and its connection to the surrounding community.
